TEXTILE EXPANSION JOINTS · EXPANSION COMPENSATORS

Non-metallic expansion gaskets, also known as textile compensators or textile expansion gaskets, are flexible connectors designed to alleviate stress in pipe systems, by absorbing the movement caused by temperature variations.

They serve as Vibration Insulators, Impact Absorbers and they may correct misalignment of pipes or other connected equipment.

They may be made in a wide variety of materials.

  • Synthetic rubber
  • Insulating materials
  • Fluoride Plastics (PTFE, Teflon)

Designs vary, from a single layer to multi-layer constructions, placed within metallic frames for operating in extreme temperature and/or corrosion conditions.

In order to make these textile expansion gaskets, we use various types and qualities of mineral textiles, impregnated with rubber, which reinforces their resistance to both temperature and chemicals.

Depending on working conditions, they may have pure PTFE interior layers which will improve their action.

For high temperatures, we use stainless steel mesh, which is resistant to chemicals.

It is important to ascertain the maximum temperature, which the compensator will need to tolerate, the pressure and pressure variations it will undergo and the chemical make-up of the fluid and the external environment it will be in contact with.
